For tarnished silver, simply place the items into a pan of warm water lined with a sheet of aluminum foil. By a process of ionic exchange, your silverware will be returned to its original brilliance. Using the cooking water from peeled potatoes, or even rubbing items with cooked potato, will produce the same effect.
