Old-Fashioned Pea Soup Recipe

Ingredients
Ingredients for 4 servings
- 750 ml (3 cups) Split Peas
- Cold water
- 1 to 3 slices of bacon, cut into small pieces
- 125 ml (1/2 cup) chopped onion
- 750 ml (3 cups) water
- 4 tsp. salt herbs
- 250 ml (1 cup) chopped carrot
- Salt, pepper and sugar to taste
Method
  1. Wash the peas and soak them in water for about 12 hours.
  2. Cook the bacon over low heat until the fat melts. Cook the onion in the bacon fat until softened; add the water.
  3. Add the peas, herbs and carrots. Season. Simmer for 3 hours.
