Endives au Gratin Recipe

Ingredients
Ingredients for 4 servings
- Belgian Belgian Endives, medium-sized
- Thin slices of cooked ham (1 slice per endive)
- [Béchamel sauce]
- Cheese, to gratiné
- Salt and pepper
- A touch of nutmeg
Method
  1. steam the endives instead of boiling them so they don't absorb too much water;
  2. meanwhile, make the béchamel sauce; season with salt, pepper and a touch of nutmeg;
  3. place an endive on a slice of ham; roll up and place in a gratin dish;
  4. cover with béchamel and sprinkle with grated cheese;
  5. place into a preheated 180° C (350° F) oven for about 10 minutes or place under the broiler for a few moments to gratiné;
  6. serve hot as a side dish.
