Small history
All about French Wines > Wines from the South-West > Tursan
West of Saint-Mont, mostly in the Landes ‘département’, Tursan received V.D.Q.S. status in 1958. Today, the wine area comprises 440 ha of vines and generates about 11 500 hl red wine (47 %), rosé (37 %) and white annually. The reds and rosés are both made from tannat, cabernet sauvignon and cabernet franc; dry and aromatic whites – about 16% of total production – are mainly made from the local grape variety baroque, as well as a bit of gros manseng and sauvignon blanc.
