General Information
Cod remains the most desirable deep-water fish from northern Pacific coasts.
The cod has a slender body but with a certain roundness. It is brown to gray in color on the back, paler on the sides and grayish-white on the belly. It has a characteristic barbel on its chin, like its Atlantic cousin.
When captured, the cod weighs between 2.5 to 3.6 kg on average.
Main fishing season
Year-round, though the catch is better in the winter months. It is fished with deep trawl nets.

A fish with lean white flesh that flakes easily.
