Small history
What is first cold-pressed oil?
- It's an unrefined oil that has not been subjected to any chemical treatment. "First" indicates that the oil was obtained from the first extraction from the seeds, while "cold-pressed" means that the extraction was carried out at a maximum temperature of 60° C. Decanted and filtered, it is then usually bottled in an opaque container to preserve all its nutritional value and flavor. Some oils bring to mind specific scents (such as apple, banana, berry, almond, tomato, artichoke, etc.). There are as many flavors as there are oils.
Buying
While wine improves with ages, the same can't be said of non-vegetable oils. Each product carries an expiry date which assures you you're buying a good-quality oil. Check it before you buy.
