2008 - Boulud at the conquest of China
Just weeks before the Olympics, Daniel Boulud has opened "Maison Boulud", only steps from famous Tiananmen Square in Pekin. Housed in the stately former American embassy building, the restaurant has a modern décor in gray, beige and red tones, and occupies two floors to offer, aside from the 60-seat main dining room, private rooms and several bars. Under the direction of Chef Brian Reimer (of Daniel in New York), Maison Boulud offers "French-American" cooking in Mr. Boulud's style, true to his "French roots and the way they have evolved after decades of cooking in America." He plans to serve fine cuisine in a vibrant and contemporary context. During the Olympic Games, the restaurant will offer non-stop service from 11 am to 11 pm daily.
