This 12th century historical site in Bavaria perched on a hill and flanked by feudal turrets will astound you with its gothic rooms and its gourmet restaurant Kastell. The historical atmosphere and unspoiled landscape bestow a natural quality upon life at Burg Wernberg which extends right through to its cuisine.

The chef is from the local area and insists that all his ingredients come from organic and free-range farms - or better still from Nature itself. You can enjoy game from the forests and fish from the River Naab at the foot of the castle. You will find regional cuisine in the gourmet restaurant, rustic Upper Palatinate specialties in the bar and, on balmy summer evenings, beer, radishes and pretzels outside in the courtyard. Relax and watch the keep shimmering in the moonlight, let your mind's eye rove where it will, and revel in the satisfaction of a good meal.
