Apple Crumble

This comforting dessert is served warm with crème fraîche, whipped cream or yogurt.

Preparation time: 30 minutes
Baking time: 20-25 minutes
Cost: Economical
Difficulty: Very easy





Ingredients

1 kg (2.2 lb.) apples
150 g (approx. 1 c.) flour
150 g (2/3 c.) softened butter
150 g (3/4 c.) brown sugar
125 g (1/2 c.) granulated sugar
Pinch of cinnamon
Crème fraîche

Preparation

  1. Peel and core the apples; cut into pieces; place in a non-stick saucepan and cook covered over medium heat for about 10 minutes, without adding water;
  2. once the apples are cooked, add the sugar and cinnamon; place into a buttered high-sided baking dish;
  3. in a bowl, cream together the butter and brown sugar; add the flour; mix and rub together with your fingertips to obtain a coarse sandy texture;
  4. spread the mixture over the apples; bake in a 200° C (425° F) oven for 20-25 minutes.
